How much can I get for my car in Florida?
It depends on the car: year, make and model, whether it runs, whether the engine, transmission and catalytic converter are still on it, and whether you have the title. You see your exact offer before you agree to anything, and if the car matches your description, that is the amount you are paid.
How do I junk a car in Florida?
Get an offer, schedule the pickup, and have the title ready to sign over. At pickup you sign the title, take your license plate off, and are paid when the car is loaded. Then file a Notice of Sale (HSMV 82050) with the FLHSMV so the car is no longer tied to you.
Can I sell a car in Florida without a title?
Florida requires a title whatever the car's age. Before you order a replacement, check whether your title is electronic: since 2013, Florida titles without a lien are electronic by default unless a paper copy was requested, so many sellers never had one printed. If the title really is lost, apply for a duplicate with form HSMV 82101.
My Florida title is electronic. Can I still sell?
Yes. An electronic title is reassigned at a county tax collector office or license plate agency using form HSMV 82994 (or HSMV 82092 if the car is exempt from odometer disclosure). Tell us it is electronic when you ask for an offer.
Can an old junk car be sold without a title in Florida?
Sometimes. Florida law lets a derelict motor vehicle, one at least 10 model years old and worth less than $1,000, go to a licensed salvage dealer or registered metals recycler with a Derelict Motor Vehicle Certificate application (HSMV 82137) instead of a title. Not every car qualifies. Tell us about your car and we will tell you whether this route applies.
What do I do with my license plate?
Keep it. In Florida the plate belongs to you, not the car. Take it off before the tow, then transfer it to another vehicle or surrender it to a tax collector office before you cancel your insurance.
Do I need an inspection or emissions test to sell?
No. Florida has no periodic safety inspection, and its emissions testing program ended in 2000, so there is nothing to pass before you sell.
Who buys junk cars in Florida?
Licensed dealers, salvage dealers and metals recyclers, and online car buyers like CashSellCar. Whoever you sell to, fill in the buyer's name when you sign the title over, never hand over a title with the buyer's section left blank, and file your Notice of Sale (HSMV 82050) afterwards.
Can I sell a car I still owe money on?
Yes, but the lender has to release the lien before ownership can transfer. Tell us about the loan when you ask for an offer, and have the payoff or lien release ready before pickup.
Do you only buy junk cars?
No. We buy all types of cars in Florida: junk, wrecked, flood-damaged, non-running, and newer cars that still drive. The cars on this page range from a $550 Subaru to a $6,000 Honda Civic.
Is towing really free, and when do I get paid?
Towing is free and nothing is deducted for it, whether the car runs or not. You are paid at pickup, when the car is loaded onto the truck.
